Henry
Smith Charity
The Henry Smith Charity was founded in 1628 and delivers grants
total ling over £20 million per annum for a wide range
of purposes across the UK, specifically in areas of deprivation.
From 1st March 2009, Henry Smith Charity is piloting a new
application process for projects taking place in Scotland
that will benefit Scottish communities alone..
What
is the funding for?
Specifically the below programme areas:
- Black,
Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME)
- Carers
- Community Service
- Disability
- Domestic and Sexual Violence
- Drugs & Alcohol/Substance Misuse
- Ex-Service Men and Women
- Family Services
- Homelessness
- Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender
- Mental Health
- Older People
- Prisoners and Ex-offenders
- Prostitution & Trafficking
- Refugees & Asylum Seekers
- Young People
How
much money is available?
There
are two programmes, one for applications for over £10,000
and a Small Grants Programme for under £10,000.
Revenue grants are grants of up to three years to fund core
running costs, salaries and/or project costs.
Capital grants are one-off grants towards the purchase of
equipment, or the purchase or refurbishment of a building.
Who
can apply?
. Organisations with charitable aims. You do not have to be
a registered charity to apply for funding unless you wish
to apply for a Small Grant through the Small Grants Programme.
When
to apply
At any time. The process takes about 6 months and the Charity
will have expected you to have tried all local sources of
funding first.
