Scottish
Arts Council
The Scottish Arts
Council is a development agency working at a national and
local level. It provides funding as well as advice and information
on all aspects of the arts in Scotland.
What is
the funding for?
The Scottish Arts Council provides funding for all
aspects of the arts, ranging from dance and music to crafts
and literature. There are a number of different schemes which
all aim to celebrate artists and artistic excellence, improve
the quality of life through the arts and provide leadership
in the arts for Scotland. They fund nearly 100 arts organisations
for annual programmes of work and also make project funds
available to both individuals and arts organisations.
A new
funding guide, Guide
to Funds, has been produced to cover 2007/08 and sees
the introduction of new priorities:
• increase the scope and quality of our support to artists
• secure the foundation of Scotland’s artistic
development
• create flexibility to support the new and the innovative
• create opportunities for participation in the arts
• build a culture of co-operation with partners and
the arts community
• this will also include our internal priority of making
the transition to Creative Scotland.
