Historic
Scotland is an Agency within the Scottish Executive Education
Department and is directly responsible to Scottish Ministers
for safeguarding the nation’s built heritage.
What
is the funding for?
Grants help the private owners of historic buildings to meet
the costs of specialist craftsmen using traditional materials
to conserve original features. Historic Scotland also co-operates
with local authorities in maintaining and repairing properties
in many historic towns.
How
much money is available?
Each case is looked at on an individual basis.
A variety
of different grants are now available from Historic Scotland:

- Places
of worship repair grants
- Historic enviroment
Regeneration fund

Who
can apply?
The following criteria must be met:
- the building must be of sufficient outstanding architectural
or historic interest
- you must either own the property or hold a full repairing
lease
- you must be able to demonstrate that you need financial
assistance
- the repair work must be of an urgent nature
