Heritage Lottery Fund
The Heritage Lottery
Fund distributes money raised by the National Lottery and
grants are given to support all aspects of heritage from historic
buildings to nature conservation. The fund aims to bring about
a better understanding of heritage conservation and to give
everyone a chance to learn about and have access to their
heritage.
What is
the funding for?
To
qualify for a grant, projects must either conserve and enhance
our heritage or encourage communities to identify, look after
and celebrate their heritage.
Heritage
projects can include:
- cultural and
local traditions
- countryside, parks and gardens
- sites and objects linked to our industrial, maritime and
transport history
- local history records and archives
- historic buildings and museum collections
How much
money is available?
There
are various grant schemes but the main one, “Your
Heritage” offers grants of between £5,000
and £50,000.
The other grants
under the heritage banner available are;
- Heritage
Grants - grants of over £50,00
- Repair
Grants for Places of Worship - grants of between
£10,000 - £200,000 to conserve and portect heritage
at risk
- Parks
for People - grants of between £250,000 and
£5 million, restoration and regneration of public
parks
- Young
Roots - grants of between £5,000 and £25,000,
available for those specifically aged 13-20yrs old, or up
to 25 yrs old for those with special needs
- Landscape
Partnerhsips - grants of between £250,000
to £2 million
- Local
Hertiage Initiatives - grants of between £3,000
to £25,000(only being piloted currently)
Who can
apply?
Any
group can apply. The fund aims to support people of all ages
and backgrounds, local communities and the disadvantaged.
When to
apply
Applications will be considered at any time.
