on the Move
Girls
on the Move is a new funding programme designed to increase
physical activity levels in girls and young women in Scotland.
A sum of £450,000 over three years has been made available
by the Robertson Trust and the Scottish Executive Health Improvements
Budget.
Leadership
Programme
What is the funding for?
The Leadership programme is aimed at young women who have
an interest and/or active involvement in sport, who wish to
pass their enthusiasm on to others who are currently inactive.
The programme is designed to develop participants to become
leaders within their own communities and in so doing to become
skilled and self confident.
How
much money is available?
Successful applicants will be sent on a training course where
the following costs will be funded:
• Accommodation and catering costs
• Facilities and equipment costs
• Training and Award Resource costs for the duration
of the course.
Participants will be asked to make a commitment of £20
each towards the course and will have to pay for their own
travel costs.
Who
can apply?
Young women aged 16 to 24 who are interested in and/or actively
involved in sport and who wish to help other girls and young
women by becoming leaders within their community. Applications
from young women in the following groups will be particularly
welcomed:
• Young women with disabilities
• Young women with mental health issues
• Young women from black and ethnic minority communities
• Young women who are mothers of young children
• Young women who do not possess an existing, formal
sports qualification
