Communities Scotland is a Scottish Executive agency who aims
to work with others to ensure decent housing and strong communities
throughout Scotland.
Scottish
Community Action Research Fund (SCARF)
What is the funding for?
SCARF is provided by Communities Scotland and managed in partnership
with the Scottish Community Development Scheme (SCDC) to support
community – led research.
The
fund helps them to plan a project, collect information and
understand it, use the information and learn from the experience.
SCARF
gives priority to community groups with projects that will:
- be
supported by the community
- involve
the community
- improve
the community's confidence and skills
- improve
the community's image
- provide
lessons that could be useful to other communities
- redevelop
your community
Successful groups
shall have two kinds of support:
- Advice
and guidance
- Grant
funding to help you carry out your project.
You
shall also have access to a research mentor to help you to
plan your project. A research mentor is someone with good
experience and skills in community-led research.
How
much money is available?
Dependant on the size of project , normally between £3000
and £10000.
Who
can apply?
Any properly constituted, not for profit group with a bank
or building society account.

to apply
Deadlines as follows for 2007/08; 29 May,

Assessments
are undertaken every 3 months.
