Charles Hayward Foundation
Sir Charles
Hayward was born in 1893 in Staffordshire and made his fortune
in engineering. He established two charitable trusts which
combined in 2000 to become the Charles Hayward Foundation.
What
is the funding for?
The Foundation places an emphasis on funding that
is developmental, innovative or preventative and predominantly
funds capital costs. Preference is given to projects that
will make a difference at a community or neighbourhood level.
The main funding categories that will be considered are:

and Conservation
- Criminal
Justice
- Hospices
- Older
People
- Overseas-

Grant Scheme up to £5,000
How
much money is available?
Grant sizes are typically from £10,000 to £25,000
one-off grant. Where agreed, project funding may be granted
for a maximum of three years in duration, and will be tapered
downwards if appropriate.
Project funding may be up to £15,000 per year over three
years
They have
a small grant scheme which makes more rapid
grants to smaller organisations. The grants are valued up
to £5,000 and are only available to organisations with
a turnover of less than £250,000.
Who
can apply?
Grants are normally made to registered charities
only. However, new charities that are not yet registered may
be considered for start-up funding if they can demonstrate
good governance and sound financial management.
