WREN

Waste Recycling Environmental Limited (WREN) is a not-for-profit.Environmental Body (EB) registered to fund projects which are eligible under the Landfill Communities Fund.that helps benefit the lives of people who live close to landfill sites by awarding grants for environmental, heritage and community projects. In Scotland this ONLY applies to projects based within 10 miles of the following sites: Lanarkshire Greengairs ML6 7TD;
Midlothian Oatslie EH25 9QN

What is the funding for?
WREN’s Main Grant Scheme is for projects falling under Object D of the Landfill Community Fund ie .
projects that provide or maintain public ammenities or parks within 10 miles of a landfill site (For more information on these Objecvts go to the Entrust link above).

How much money is available?
Grants of between £15,001 and £50,000 are available for projects with a maximum total project cost of £250,000.
The minimum contribution WREN will make to a Main Grant Scheme application is £15,000 or no less than 20% of the total project cost.
The maximum contribution WREN will make to a Main Grant Scheme application is £50,000 or no more than 85% of the total project cost.

WREN cannot provide retrospective funding.

Who can apply?
Your organisation must have a written constitution reflecting at least one of the five objectives stated in the Landfill Tax Regulations of 1996. You may be able to change your existing constitution or create a new one to satisfy this. You must be a non-profit making body, although you do not need to be a registered charity. You may be a body corporate, a trust, a partnership or other unincorporated body but must NOT be controlled by one or more of the following: a local authority, bodies corporate controlled by one or more local authority or a registered landfill operator. The project to be funded should be located within ten miles of a landfill site and be in the areas outlined above.

When to apply
The last round for 2010 closes on 1 September.

How to apply
To apply for money from the
LCF you must first enroll with ENTRUST as an Environmental Body for which there is a charge of £100, or you can apply through an already registered body.
