Innovation Fund
Scottish
Enterprises's Tourism Innovation Fund (TIF) will provide innovation
support that can include matched funding of up to £30,000
and professional one-to-one advice to enable tourism operators
to deliver innovative projects to market.
Support
is aimed at individual or collaborative project ideas that
aim to offer a new and genuinely innovative experience which
encourages people to visit Scotland. This could be a product
or a business process in a sector or service category –
for example, accommodation, attractions and activity holidays.
It could be a new collaborative experience, to increase an
existing market or enter a new market.
What
is the funding for?
Winning
projects will aim to deliver additional growth by achieving
at least one of the following:
* generating
higher tourism spend
* increasing overnight visitor numbers
* getting visitors to stay longer
* improving visitors’ tourism experience
* developing new market sectors
* extending the season outwith peak months
Awards
will not be made for renovations or extensions. The TIF awards
are not a recognition of achievement.

much money is available?
The benefits

* Up to five days one-to-one innovation support
* Scotland-wide publicity
* The ability to turn your business idea into a profitable
reality
Who
can apply?
The Tourism Innovation Fund is open to individual
tourism businesses and groups of businesses working together.You
must:
* be
based in the Scottish Enterprise area ; and
* derive all, or most of, your turnover from servicing the
needs of leisure and business tourists.
Preference
will be given to small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs).
When
to apply
Remaining application deadlines for year 2 of the
Tourism Innovation Fund are as follows:
* 30
September 2010
Application
forms received after a deadline date will be accepted into
the next competition round.

The first step is to complete an Expression of Interest
form which can be done on line by clicking here.

Applications
will be assessed by a panel of judges that will include members
of the Tourism and Innovation teams in Scottish Enterprise
and Tourism industry representatives. Winning projects will
benefit from Tourism Innovation Fund publicity and promotional
activity.
