Scottish
International Education Trust
The Scottish International
Education Trust was set up in 1971 on the initiative of Sean
Connery. The Trustees are Scots who have distinguished themselves
in careers covering a wide range of activities including the
arts, industry, education and sport.
What is
the funding for?
The
trust has two broad aims:
* to give financial
help at a critical stage in their development to Scots men
and women who have shown ability and promise and wish to take
their studies or professional training further in circumstances
where public funds are not available. For details on support
for individuals click
here.
* to support projects which the Trust considers will contribute
to the cultural, social or economic well being of Scotland
or the improvement of the Scottish environment. Details of
this strand are developed below.
How much
money is available?
Usually between £1,000 and £3,000 and
rarely more than £5,000.
Who can
apply?
Community
led organisations who are representative and properly constituted.
The proposed project must provide wide ranging benefit to
the community.
When to
apply
Grants are assessed when they are received. However,
any grant above £1000 requires specific approval by
the Trustees. Trustees meet normally in late March, June and
October; papers for each meeting are drawn up about a month
beforehand; so if the timing is critical to you, you should
aim to get an application in by mid-February, May or September
accordingly.
How to
apply
There is no application form but the Trust do require some
specific information to enable them to make a decision. Refer
