Rural Ayrshire Renewable Energy Fund

Community Energy Scotland have teamed up with Ayrshire LEADER to create the Rural Ayrshire Renewable Energy Fund. This will provide an overall fund of £320,000 to rural Ayrshire communities for the development of renewables projects.

Grants of up to £80,000 will be available for community groups to cover capital costs where they can demonstrate that the project will benefit the wider community within their local area.

Technical Assistance grants will also be available up to a maximum of £15,000 to cover the cost of an assessment of a community building (or group of community buildings) to establish the possibilities for use of renewable technologies and energy efficiency measures. These grants can also be used to fund feasibility studies for revenue generating projects such as wind or hydro.

The fund is limited, must be spent by the end of March 2012 and will be managed on a first come first served basis. Community groups within the eligible area should therefore come forward with their proposals or request advice as early as possible (as at September 2011).
