The PRS
Foundation for New Music (PRSF) is the UK's largest independent
funder purely for new music of any genre.
Its main
aims are to stimulate and support the creation and performance
of new music in the UK, ensuring this reaches a wide audience.
In addition, it motivates public debate about creative music-making
in the UK, for example through ground-breaking projects such
as the New Music Award.
What
is the funding for?
To inspire
and stimulate the creation of an imaginative and original
piece of new British music. .
In other
words to ignite the imagination of the creative community
and also dramatically raise the profile and level of debate
around contemporary British music (much in the same way that
the Turner Prize does for contemporary British art).
