Coalfields Regeneration Trust

NB Only eligible areas within the Ayrshire, Lothian, Clydesdale/Strathkelvin and Fife/Central Coalfields can apply.

What is the funding for?
The Trust has identified four key funding themes that respond to the needs of coalfield communities.

These are: Access to employment, Education and Skills, Health and wellbeing and Access to opportunities.

There are 2 Grant Programmes:

Bridging the Gap (BtG)

This is the Trust’s programme offering grants from £500 to £5,000 in Scotland to voluntary and community groups for projects that can be completed within 12 months. A group can have one grant in any 12-month period and each application must be for a different activity. The application process is simple and they aim to get a decision within 12 weeks of receiving a completed application.

Main Grants Programme

if you have a suitable project please call the Trust to discuss.

The trust can make grants from £10,001 to £50,000 in Scotland to voluntary, community and statutory organisations (NB. Statutory organisations can only apply for grants over £30,000).

Awards can be for capital or revenue for up to 3 years or to the end of the funding programme. Different timescales apply in different areas and their regional offices can give you details.

Most voluntary and community organisations and groups working to regenerate coalfield communities outlined in the introduction aboveare eligible to apply for funding this includes statutory bodies such as local authorities
