for Communities
CashBack
for Communities is a programme of diversionary activities
for young people to increase the opportunities they have to
develop their interests and skills in an enjoyable, fulfilling
and supported way, using funds recovered from criminals.
It
includes a range of partnerships with Scottish sporting, arts
and youth associations to provide diversionary activities
for young people in Scottish communities. For links to these

Small
Grants Scheme
The
fund has been set up in conjunction with the Scottish Government
as part of Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 which takes funds confiscated
as part of the proceeds of crime and reinvests them back into

What
is the funding for?
The
fund has been established to support local volunteer led groups,
who may not previously have had access to external funding,
to enhance their programmes for young people and get positive
projects off the ground.
This pilot scheme
is being managed by a partnership of six national, volunteer-led
youth organisations; Scottish Council - The Scout Association,
Girlguiding Scotland, Boys Brigade, The Girls’ Brigade
in Scotland, Clubs for Young People (Scotland) and Youth Scotland,
the network of Youth Clubs and Groups in Scotland.
How
much money is available?
•The start up costs of a unit or youth group
(up to £1,000)
•The costs (or part of the costs) of a particular programme
of activity (up to £2,000). This can include equipment
Who
can apply?
Local youth groups
which meet all the following criteria:
•Led by volunteers,
•Have members which include young people aged 10 or
over,
•Based in Scotland, and
•A member of one of the six partnership organisations
listed above, including Youth Scotland.
This last requirement is to ensure all groups awarded a small
grant have the appropriate national organisational support,
with clear operating policies in place, and are properly constituted.
