ABERDEENSHIRE
LEADER FUNDING LEADER
is part of the Scottish
Rural Development Programme (SRDP), aimed at promoting
economic and community development within rural areas. LEADER
is a bottom-up method of delivering support for rural development
through implementing a local rural development strategy. Support
is aimed primarily at small-scale, community driven projects
that are pilot and innovative in nature.It is a natiowide
programme but each eligible area has developed its own programme.
This fund is an opportunity for participating groups to develop
projects that will strengthen the social, economic and environmental
fabric of Aberdeenshire's rural communities.
The programme
is open to a wide range of groups, collaborations and partnerships
within the programme area. Details for Aberdeenshire LEADER,

What
is the funding for?
Projects
generally fall into two categories:
Capital:
Infrastructure such as building works or material goods.
Revenue:
Cultural, educational, historical, social enterprise, staff
costs.
How
much money is available?
Applicants
will need to identify match funding, normally 50% or more
of the total project cost.
Who
can apply?
This programme
is open to a wide range of groups, collaborations and partnerships
within the programme area.
When
to apply
The dates
for the remaining 2010 rounds are: 28th July and 27th October.

Also recently announced by the Scottish Government and with
a closing date of Friday 27th August 2010 in Aberdeenshire
- Rural Broadband Challenge Fund. Examples
of possible projects for the new challenge fund include the
upgrade of exchanges, pilot projects into next generation
broadband and supporting a business collective to access better
broadband.
For
applicants applying to the Rural Broadband Challenge Fund
through the Rural Aberdeenshire LEADER Programme, please note
that the eligible area for the Broadband initiative is the
Aberdeenshire Local Authority area minus the western part,
which is covered by Cairngorms LEADER and settlements with
population greater than 10,000.

Applicants should
ensure that the project names are clearly labelled with “Broadband”
as a prefix on application forms eg Broadband - “Fibreoptic
Fyvie” to allow SRDP payment of Broadband projects to
be identified from other LEADER projects.
